I got two of those little four legged menaces in two nights of trapping. It was exciting work. Each day brought the thrill of victory as I saw my quarry quickened underneath Victory’s spring powered arm. After my first kill, the pest control guy called to ask me if I needed help. I informed him of my success and he simply offered me advice. Obviously, he knew the situation was in good hands and any involvement would simply be a waste of time.

The pest control guy gave me these tips:
1. Take away the food source. The will leave once that food is unavailable to them.
2. Keep traps out and armed after they “leave”. Sometimes rats and mice like to come back to their old haunts. Show them that they still aren’t welcome.
3. Make the trap super deadly. Tie a cotton ball with some thread to the underside of the mousetrap lever. Dab peanutbutter onto the ball. Those dumb rats will be forced to grab the ball and set off the lever. This also ensures a quick and painless death. An unfortunate side effect…

So, for the past two nights, I haven’t heard any rapid footsteps save those of the cat’s. The coast seems clear for now, but I will maintain my vigilance. Always listening, always ready.
