My mentor was here last week and it was an amazing experience. In two days he helped me do more than I had done in the past 5 months. Now, real estate looks not only possible, but I am confident I can exceed my goals for the year. Oh yeah, G35 here I come!!
I think the main thing that my mentor stresses is respecting and honoring your time. Time is the only thing that we cannot get back once we’ve lost it. Money comes and go, Deals come and go. Time is our most precious ally and our 2nd worst enemy. We can let time help us make us rich with the time-value of money or we can let it kill us by letting those deadlines come at that unyielding pace.
Why is time our 2nd worst enemy? Because we are our worst. I personally, kept myself from making a lot of money last year and wasted a lot of time. There was a house I was looking at which was being sold by a realtor. This was a straight up Backer type play and I let the ball drop. I let the house go to sell without making an easy $15K. I was almost ill after finding that out. I basically talked myself out of that deal. I’ve been spending a lot of time down at the courthouse and now I realize most of that time was poorly spent. Where are the deals going to be found? Not in the courthouse, they’re going to be in the kitchens and living rooms of homeowners.
After my mentor helped me realize this, I’ve been taking massive amounts of action. I’ve talked to quite a few people and banks, setting deals in motion. I’ve got my lawyer researching stuff for me. I’m putting myself out there. It feels good because I feel like my first deal is right around the corner. I’ve got about 4 really good things in the pipeline and I know I can close one of those.
I’m so glad that I took the initiative to seek this mentor and make things happen. It’s such a huge difference to have someone available and looking over your shoulder telling you how you can be successful.
