Okay, I finally got gnucash up and running. It was a pain because I really didn’t know how Fink worked completely and how all these library dependencies were going to play out. It’s been a while since I’ve done a lot of C++ development and even then I selected an IDE that did my Makefiles for me.

Here’s some good stuff I learned. If you install gnucash, you might as well install gnucash-docs because the manual is pretty well written and helpful in many places. It has lots of screenshots and other goodies to make the setup easier.

As promised, here’s what I’ve been interested in as far as techonology goes lately.

Linksys WRT54G wireless router is turning out to be a geek’s wet wireless dream. There’s an open source firmware update that lets people use every imaginable feature of the Broadcom chip. You can do WDS (mesh networking), boost the antennae power, set your own routing tables. It’s just nuts. Unfortunately, you have to shell out $20 if you really want to get some help doing it. Not too high a price.

I kind of want to add a comments section to my website - make it interactive. The downside - advertisements.

Man, its been hard for me to figure out what NOT to write about lately and I guess that’s why I haven’t been writing much as of late. I listen to more NPR lately, so that’s got me leaning extra left these days. I need to go shoot some guns or steal from poor people or something to get me back to center…
