Pizza Goodness
Tonight I cooked my first pizza. No pizza stone, no phone call to Domino’s, No DiGiorno’s. Just a man and his grill. Grill? Yeah baby, propane powered goodness. Here’s how I did it. I just used any old recipe of pizza dough, like this one. Slapped it on the grill for 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Turned it halfway through each side so the dough cooks evenly.
Then, you have two choices. You can continue to cook the pizza on the grill and put the toppings on the pizza right after flipping it. Like sauce and cheese and stuff. The other route is to take the cooked pizza dough off the grill, apply toppings, and warm the toppings in a 350 degree oven.
We put some great toppings on our pizzas. Yara went with two types of mushrooms (sauteed mushrooms and grilled portobellas) and 3 types of cheeses (shredded mozzarella, goat cheese, and buffalo mozzarella). She threw on some basil and had a dollyed up margherita pizza. I did the same and added some sardines for good measure. Good stuff.
The grill makes the pizza a lot crispier. It turns out a lot more like the pizza I had in Europe. Flatter and crispier than their cousins, these pizzas are worth the effort. I think they’d be good for a party cause you can make all the toppings ahead of time and then just cook the dough as people want. Then guests can do their own pizzas and go crazy. Mmmm… crazy people eating at my house.
What’s your favorite pizza?

Prayer does no good
A Duke study finds that prayer doesn’t do a body good. The researchers conducted a study on patients with half praying for the patients, the other half receiving no prayers. Apparently, there was no significant difference.
This study seems to be a waste of money and time. After all, most people who think that prayer will help, believe as a matter of faith. It only gives more ammo to those who believe science explains all.
I still pray to God. I know there is no factual basis for it, but I do anyways.
In other news, a recent study finds that saying “Good Morning” has no significant effect on whether a person will have a good morning.

Sonic is back!
Back when I was a kid, I used to spend a good bit of time playing the original Sonic the Hedgehog. I never did get into all of the sequels with Tails and the Echidna guys. I picked up a Gamecube collection of all the Sonic classics from Blockbuster for about $7, since Yara wanted it. Apparently, Hyunoo wouldn’t let her play his copy of it.
Now I see that Sonic has made it into medical history! Here’s a quote:
But further research is needed to develop Sonic Hedgehog into a medication, and that is expected to take years.
Here’s the unbelievable article. Here’s the website of the principal investigator. He really doesn’t look like someone who plays a lot of Sega, but then again we all have secrets.
I wonder if the Sonic the Hedgehog drug and Viagra will have unfortunate consequences.

When Israel Attacks
Yara came home and asked me if I knew that Israel attacked Syria. I was surprised to hear that Israel has taken such aggressive action. They’ve been portraying themselves as the victims of suicide bombings and a campaign of terror. This action seems to run counter to that. Although it is in the spirit of the US’s attack on Afghanistan and Iraq. I’d like to believe that only the US has the moral authority to preemptively strike targets of global concern, but it looks like Israel feels it has the same authority.
I think then next few days will bring meetings at the UN denouncing Israel’s actions. These will pretty much go ignored as economic sanctions will not be imposed. Colin Powell will again be sent to the area to give stern warnings which the Israeli government will heed for a few days only to begin again after the spotlight shifts away.
If a country has a right to attack terrorist camps in another country, does that mean a country could attack one of the extremist groups training here in the US? After all, we have over 700 hate groups operating in the US. (Yeah, it f***ing scares me to see these peckers in my state).
